Stuck in Maintenance Mode When I try to update

  • My website goes straight into maintenance mode whenever I try to update the plugins or the version or WP.

    It goes through with the upgrade past the point where it enabled Maintenance mode and freezes and stops at the ‘Updating Plugin’ section.

    Now my site is down. I can’t get into the FTP or the site code because I don’t have the right credentials or software to get to it.

    Please help. I’m tearing my hair out.

  • Hi, @dakotafurn. You’re going to need some type of access to the files on the server, to see if the .maintenance file is still present there (and then delete it).

    So if you don’t have the FTP credentials, you’ll need to get in touch with your host to get those (or just have them delete the file for you).
