I deactivated maintenance mode this morning. My Under Construction splash page is still showing and it seems to be stuck that way. There are several really helpful articles about how to unstick, most of them recommend deleting the .maintenance file from my public_html file. This is what I’ve tried so far:
Deleting the .maintenance file (there wasn’t one…other dot files are showing
Clearing cache. No luck there either.
Manually created a .maintenance file and then deleted.
    Deactivated the plugin/reactivated/deactivated, etc.
Deleted and reinstalled the plugin (created a new splash screen)
Activated maintenance mode and the OLD spash screen is still showing, not the new one)
Deleted the plugin completely from WP (and verified the files were gone from wp-content/plugins and still no joy.
I’m wondering if the server has it cached, but I don’t see any way on my Bluehost cpanel to even check for that. Help? Suggestions? Thank you!!!!

While I was in maintenance mode, my wordpress updated to 4.7.2

The blog I need help with is thezenintrovert.com.

The problem seems to have been resolved.

The WP Super Cache needed to be updated, so I did so. After the update, my website became available again. Apparently WP Super Cache was holding on to something.

    Hello @patricialemieux,

I’m glad you solved the problem. Each time you deactivate / activate the “Maintenance Mode” you also have to empty the cache (if you have a cache plugin installed).
The problem is… that sometimes the empty cache option (from some cache plugins) is not always working as it should.

    Thanks.

    Hi George,

Thanks for your quick response. I’ve been in the computer field for a long time working on Unix servers and mainframes. I should have thought of the cache plugin sooner.

    Patricia
