stuck how to add a menu to the navigation bar ?

I am new to the Baskerville theme but like it a lot so I created a child theme, installed the Simple CSS plugin to get going. I was able to change the colours of the navbar, move it to the top etc. (thanks to this forum).
Problem:
In my navigation bar there is one item “About”. To add a new “HOME” button to the navbar I go to Appearence – Menu , add HOME and hit “create”. I adds it but it has no effect on the navbar.
I see that “About” has Page however but HOME has adapted link next to it?
