    After enabling preload mode it seemed to get stuck on a password protected page. I tried cancelling but it seemed stuck so I deactivated and uninstalled the plugin.

    After reinstalling the plugin I go directly to the Preload tab and it still says “Preload active [..] Currently caching from post 100 to 200.”.

    I enabled the debug log and then went back to cancel the preload. It then says “Scheduled preloading of cache almost cancelled. It may take up to a minute for it to cancel completely.” The following was then added to the log:

    13:41:54 8958 /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpsupercache&tab=debug wp_cache_replace_line: changing line $wp_super_cache_debug = 0; to *$wp_super_cache_debug = 1;*
    13:41:54 8958 /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpsupercache&tab=debug wp_cache_replace_line: writing to /storage/content/90/185190/foo.bar/public_html/wp-content/cache/wpscwWOI72.php
    13:41:54 8958 /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpsupercache&tab=debug wp_cache_replace_line: moved /storage/content/90/185190/foo.bar/public_html/wp-content/cache/wpscwWOI72.php to /storage/content/90/185190/foo.bar/public_html/wp-content/wp-cache-config.php
    13:42:36 8958 /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpsupercache&tab=preload wp_cache_replace_line: setting not changed - $wp_cache_slash_check = 1;
    13:42:46 9508 /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpsupercache&tab=preload wpsc_cancel_preload: creating stop_preload.txt
    13:42:46 9508 /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpsupercache&tab=preload wp_cache_replace_line: setting not changed - $wp_cache_slash_check = 1;

    In wp-content/cache there is a 0 byte stop_preload.txt file that cannot be deleted in case that says anything.

    When I check the Preload tab again the scheduling message is gone but it is saying “Preload active [..] Currently caching from post 100 to 200.” again.

    How do I get WP Super Cache out of limbo?

  • Is the password protected page just a regular password protected WordPress post or did you add .htaccess rules to hide it behind http auth?

    It is protected with the “Protect the children” plugin. No http auth.

    Anyway, it started working after a day or so. In case anyone else come by this thread I recommend that you setup a cron job for wp-cron.php for faster processing.
