Stuck at “MailPoet version update is in progress”

MailPoet has been stuck on “MailPoet version update is in progress” for several update versions so far (over a month). I have tried rolling back to previous versions, installing all current updates, uninstalling, reinstalling. Uploading fresh files.
Nothing works to kick it out of maintenance mode. I am unable to access any of the MailPoet links/pages to manage settings.

We have both the free version and paid version. The problem appears to be effecting the free version. It does not go away if I deactivate the premium version.

Please help!
