I’m trying to get as simple as possible an example of a feed working which I can then use that as a template for some output from a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet.

I have two systems – the live one which I have used to generate XML and ICS files which – I believe – I should be able to import into my local test system. It’s not working. It appears to read the file and always terminates with “Imported 0 events” (I’m sticking with a single event for now).

I’ve also tried creating an ICS file with the likes of marudot.com iCal Event Maker. Again, no success. Frankly I don’t really know where to begin getting to the bottom of this if an ai1ec won’t import a file generated on an equivalent ai1ec system.

Any hints or suggestions?

Both WP systems are 4.9.4
Both Ai1ECs are 2.5.28

Hi @dday61,

I looked at your calendar on https://www.fippennynews.co.uk/calendar/.

I downloaded the ICS file also and tested it in an ICS Validator, https://icalendar.org/validator.html#results.

The result was:

Number of events found: 236
Number of timezones found: 1
Success! No errors found.

I did a test import of your ICS file into 2 test calendars, one, on a WordPress core calendar, and the other, on a hosted web app calendar, and in both cases:

Imported 236 events successfully.

Thanks for that. I wasn’t aware of the iCalendar Validator and your reply prompted me to give it a try.

The problem seems to be something to do with Line Endings. I’ve now got a file which validates ok. I haven’t imported it into the test system, yet, but at 22:30 something it’s time to pack up for the evening.

I’ll get back to it tomorrow.
