Struggling to get the lay-out I want

Hello. I am getting large gaps between paragraphs, on a couple of my website pages, and I am also struggling to get content in the position I want on basically all my pages.

I’m obviously doing something wrong, or not doing what I need to do, but being extremely new to this I am currently just very confused, and rather frustrated with trying to create my site.

If anyone who is clued up on WordPress is willing to share any of their wisdom with me, I would be very grateful!
