Hi. I need to fix a few issues on my site. I’m not very savvy on this front.

First, Google contacted me about schema.org. Checking breadcrumbs on the Google Search Console, it looks like all of my posts have data-vocabulary.org in the coding. I contacted my Theme about this and they said they don’t use data-vocabulary.org, so I’m not sure why it’s coming up or how to fix it easily.

Second, I used the structuring data testing tool and I’m getting a number of errors:
A value for the name field is required.
A value for the datePublished field is required.
A value for the headline field is required.
A value for the publisher field is required.

    Warnings:
The dateModified field is recommended. Please provide a value if available.
The headline field is recommended. Please provide a value if available.
The mainEntityOfPage field is recommended. Please provide a value if available.

How do I fix these things? Is this a Yoast issue?

    Thank you.

  • This is not a Yoast Issue.. Please remove all you rother SEO helper plugins since Yoast SEO is a complete package and does not need any other plugins to work with it for SEO or schema. Yoast does not use data-vocab unless you have a really super outdated version of yoast

Thanks for your response on this. I keep Yoast up-to-date. I’m currently using 12.9.1. I’m not sure if I’m using other SEO helper plugins. I don’t use that many plugins. Is Jetpack considered a SEO helper plugin? Or Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights?

Also, is your response only addressing my issue with the data-vocab or are my other issues also not Yoast related?

Jet Pack does have some SEO options – I would recommend to go Into Jetpack and turn off anything related to SEO. Refresh your page and then test in Google Search console

Thank you again. I looked at Jetpack and I don’t use the premium or professional product, so I can’t use their SEO tools. It says I would need to upgrade. So, I don’t think that’s it. Any other thoughts on why I’m getting these errors and/or why data-vocabulary is in the coding?

I would reach back out to your theme author. Their demo site, https://demos.pixelgrade.com/heap/saving-your-work-in-more-ways-than-one/, includes data-vocabulary.org schema. So either, the demo is an older version of their theme or something they integrate with uses that schema.

Additionally, it appears the version of the theme on your site is older than the one on the demo site. Plus, I checked some of the sites that the theme author says uses the same theme and those also have the data-vocabulary.org schema and have newer versions than your site but lower than the demo site.
