    Hi, Mateusz

Everything was working well until today I suddenly noticed that new images are stripped of EXIF data.
“Keep images metadata stored in EXIF or XMP formats (unavailable for GD conversion method)” is checked. And I use Imagick with a .webp support. And just checked it in ShortPixel. It keeps EXIF. What’s happend recently? Previously it was ok.

    Hello @veris81,

    Thanks for your message.

Please send me an example of original image. I would like to check it myself.

    Best,
    Mateusz

@veris81 Thank you! I converted this image using my plugin. I have Imagick set as the Conversion method. Additionally, I have an active “Keep images metadata stored in EXIF or XMP formats” feature. The metadata saved in the WebP file is always available. Everything works fine.

@mateuszgbiorczyk First of all, thanks for the fast answer.

I understand, that from one hand – for this plugin it’s difficult to explain that it works fine, and the problem is on the user’s end. From the other hand – just to say that it works and send .webp file with kept EXIF also can’t be 100% convincing ??

What my investigation has shown ??
Yes, it was problem with Imagick on my server. When I started to use your plugin about half a year ago, I had to ask hosting support for custom settings for Imagick. Because default ones didn’t work. And some time ago, after automatic updates on server, custom Imagick was replaced by default. As a result, your plugin stopped working. At the same time, in these conditions, ShortPixel was still able to generate .webp with EXIF data.

Summary. After adding some grey hairs, I was able to make your plugin work again. Probably, there is a space for updates to make plugin work for broader number of users (server settings).

Anyway, thanks for your plugin and job you are doing.

    @veris81 Thanks for your answer.

I tested the plugin on a shared hosting, on a clean WordPress installation. I don’t see any point in cheating anyone. If there was a problem in the plugin, firstly, many people would report it, and secondly, I would fix it – not pretend everything is working properly.

If you have some non-standard PHP configuration or libraries, this may cause an error. Unfortunately, I cannot test such configurations. When using the ShortPixel plugin, the conversion is done via a remote server, so your locally installed libraries don’t matter. In the case of my plugin, in the free version, the conversion is done locally, using the PHP library.
