stripe won't process orders

My online store is down and can’t accept orders. I’ve only noticed this issue after the 4.5 update so I’m presuming there is a correlation.
The checkout has worked fine in the past, but today an issue was noticed. After completing payment info, guest can choose pay pal or credit card (stripe). Both options result in the same error message, “Error processing checkout. Please try again.” Tried in multiple browsers. I’m using woo commerce (2.5.5)
I found out how to debug the wp-config.php and uploaded to server.
When i recreated the issue, it gave me this message….“SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data”
My theme is Avada if that makes a difference. Please advise how the next step. I’m not IT/code guy by any stretch.
