    Hi,

I’m developing my first Woocommerce website. The website is on localhost during the development and I’m using the official Stripe plugin as a payment gateway. This is also the first time for me that I’m using this payment gateway, I’m a newbie!

I’ve installed Stripe and activated it. However by the fact I run the website on a local server, I can’t use the Test mode and I don’t still have the credentials of my client’s account. I noticed that even enabled, Stripe is not showing up on the Checkout page (I tried with the theme TwentyTwenty). My question is, is it normal that the Stripe option is not showing up in my case? Do I need my client’s Stripe account’s credentials to do it?

I’m only using the Woocommerce and Stripe plugin.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi there!

My primary test site uses Local by Flywheel, and Stripe shows just fine ??

While you don’t have your client’s API keys, have you gotten developer test keys from Stripe to test with? Stripe won’t show if not.

    Hi Ross,

Thanks for the reply. If I would like to to use the developer test keys, I have to look for them through my client’s Stripe account right?

You also confirm that if I don’t connect the Woocommerce Stripe plugin with the API keys, it won’t show on the Checkout page?

    Hi again, Mat!

Thanks for the reply. If I would like to to use the developer test keys, I have to look for them through my client’s Stripe account right

If you’re purely looking to test the functionality of the Stripe extension/ the site’s checkout and you don’t have access to your client’s account, you can just create a free Stripe account yourself and obtain and use the developer API keys from there. Stripe just needs active API keys- it doesn’t care whos account it’s connected to.

You also confirm that if I don’t connect the Woocommerce Stripe plugin with the API keys, it won’t show on the Checkout page?

    This is correct.

Hope this helps, and if you need anything else, feel free to ask!

Thank you very much for the help Ross! I will create a Stripe account to get the developer test keys.
