Hi, currently using WC Vendors with Stripe for a site that lets users sell their own products.

I noticed a few years ago there were threads on the WC Vendors site discussing support for subscriptions, has there been any progress on this? I would like to users to be able to buy subscriptions which will then give them more options when managing their shop. The admins on the WC Vendors forum seemed a little irritated about questions being asked about it so I’m assuming there’s still no support for subscriptions and there wont be for a while.

Originally there was a work around where we had the WC stripe plugin for subscriptions and your stripe plugin for products, and we could unset the payment gateway based on the product type, but there was only so long that could last given inevitable plugins conflicts. Are you aware of any workarounds?

In addition, are there any updates relating to Paypal AP, or an alternative for WC Vendors?

    Thanks

  • Hello,
Are you asking about subscriptions for vendor membership (like a monthly membership fee for vendor access/role) or a subscription solution for enabling the vendors to list subscription products?

Presently we do not have either built-in. However, we are presently working to create full integration for WooCommerce Subscriptions so that vendors can list subscription products– this is not yet completed, but work has been done on this project.
As for vendor memberships/subscriptions, you can use a third party membership plugin to assist with this- and then do some custom development to create further functions depending on the setting you wish to have.
I have one article on our docs site that details an example of how to use Paid Memberships Pro with WC Vendors to only give the “vendor” role to users who have paid for the subscription/membership. https://docs.wcvendors.com/knowledge-base/paid-membership-pmpro-wc-vendors/
One important thing to note— you do not want to use a membership plugin that changes the member’s WordPress role. Paid Memberships Pro works well because it adds a “level” for the memberships rather than altering the user’s WordPress role. You need the user to obtain the WordPress role “vendor” so that they have the vendor functions in WC Vendors. They cannot be given a new role when they subscribe/pay for their membership — as is often the case with membership plugins.

For PayPal AP– there will not be an exact replacement; however, our lead developer is going to work to create an integration that will allow for scheduled payments- just not instant. Unfortunately there is not yet another PayPal instant payment solution available for configuration with a WooCommerce multi-vendor environment.

    Cheers,
    Anna – WC Vendors
