    Hello,
I requested a DPA with Standard Contractual Clauses from Stripe and was hoping to clarify my questions with it, but now I am even more confused. I wanted to know if the personal data of the customers paying with Credit Card will be transferred either to Stripe Ireland or Stripe US?
And when paying trough Klarna – will the data also be transferred to Stripe? This is very confusing and I am not sure if I can offer Credit Card & Klarna via Stripe in accordance with GDPR – at least I have to tell customers exactely what data will be tranferred to which party.
Could you maybe help or advise to some helpfull info?
I am from Germany, if that makes a difference…
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi @lenaka,

I don’t know the answer to that question. That is an inquiry you should send to the Stripe support team and they should be able to assist you.

Stripe is GDPR compliant on their end and you can offer credit cards and Klarna. Stripe has many merchants in Germany that use that combination of payment methods. I recommend the following guide provided by Stripe which has some helpful information about Stripe and GDPR.

Thank you. I’ve already contacted Stripe yesterday but got no response yet.
I found in the meantime (through Klarna’s website and Trusted Shops as well) that for Klarna, I need a clear consent of the customer (means an extra checkbox he must check). But I dont find such in your plugin. Am I missing something?

    Hi @lenaka,

There isn’t a checkbox option for GDPR in this plugin because it’s up to the merchant how they want to represent that consent and information. A checkbox is not the only accepted form of consent. Most merchants in my experience list their GDPR in the site’s privacy policy and link that to the existing terms and conditions checkbox on the checkout page.

There are also plugins that allow you to create custom fields on the checkout page and you could add your own GDPR checkbox if you don’t want to use the WooCommerce terms and conditions checkbox. But I would recommend using the terms and conditions checkbox because it’s one less box to check for a customer if you put it all together.

    Kind Regards,
