strip Kubrick Default of PHP generator for header gradient

hacking my way through a Kubrick modification. New to WP minimal PHP/CSS skills.

My question; I added an image rotating header – it works. How do I shed all of the unnecessary code that generates the default header image & gradient while retaining the nessesary functional aspects. For clarity sake I want to dump the code that adds the header image and color section into the ‘Appearance sub menu’ for this theme too.

Any helpful direction appreciated,
