String Translations with WPML

We use code snippets plug-in on our WordPress site. in some of the code snippets we include strings that will be translated. e.g. $items[‘my_company’] = __( ‘My Company’, ‘woocommerce’ ); //added to the text domain woocommerce

However when we scan the theme to find any additional strings for translation the strings are not available to WPML.

if we move the snippet into the themes function file they are scanned and included correctly. Is there a fix or work-around that would allow the strings to remain in the snippet and ensure they are scanned?
