• Hi Everyone,

Is anyone experiencing difficulties with the string translation feature?

I have 3 pages of string translations at this point. I do my translations on Page 1, save it and everything looks good BUT, when I go to page 2, do the same thing and save it, it brings me back to page 1 and I see that all the previous string translations I did were wiped and reverted back to the previous values.

I did a “Clean strings translation database” just in case but, it didn’t change anything ??

Anyone can point out what I’m doing wrong here.

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

    Cheers,

    Marc

    Hello
You fill your strings in Settings > Languages > String translation tab ?

    1) Go in Settings > Permalinks > Common Settings : unselect “Default” and choose another permalink settings.

    2) in Settings > Languages > tab Settings: could you select for “URL modifications” one of this 3 settings:
The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks
The language is set from the subdomain name in pretty permalinks
The language is set from different domains

    Hello Chrystl,

Here’s what I had in settings > Permalinks > Common Settings

    Post name https://www.datatelcom.com/sample-post/

Changed to Custom Structure https://www.datatelcom.com/%postname%/ and hit save. It reverted back to Post name https://www.datatelcom.com/sample-post/

In Settings > Languages > tab Settings: I can select what ever I want. Current setting is:

The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks

I also have the following enabled in that section:

    – Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks
    – Detect browser language When the front page is visited, set the language according to the browser preference
    – Media Activate languages and translations for media

Inthe Synchronization section, nothing is selected

These settings were already selected and saved if I well understand?

Could you provide a copy screen of your Strings Translation tab?

How do paste the image here exactly? I don’t seem to be able to paste a print screen here

You can paste it on your website and give the link or on others appropriate websites.

Do you have a safety plugin that avoid to use html in text fields?
Could try with only Polylang actived.

    What happens?

Yes I do and I cannot not have one on this site.

To be honest, the string translation isn’t such a big deal as I have done both English and French pages on my site. It would just be a nice to have.

Also, although on some pages, WordPress does do the translation to French through the built-in *po files, there’s one page (update user profile through front-end (member restricted access only) page) where it doesn’t. Still working on solving that one
