    Hi John,

quick one if I may, please …

Whenever a and active link is selected i.e. …

    /this-is-sleep/

    it’s doing this …

    /category/shopping/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/gifts-news/

I have tried pretty much every which way to stop this, checked the log but cannot see why the link is being redirected to the above and not going to /this-is-sleep/?

What is the sequence to force it to the desired url?

    Tried : /this-is-sleep/(.*)

    Any ideas, please?

    Hope that makes sense ??

    Many Thanks

It’s not super clear, no. What redirect have you created?

    Hi John,

The problem I’m facing is that I’m seeing a ton of 404’s every day.

As an example, this is a link to a listing on my site : “/this-is-sleep/”

This is what is happening > “/this-is-sleep/?admin.php”

Someone or something is adding spurious strings?

    So I created :

/this-is-sleep/(.*) to omit the latter part and force it to go to : /this-is-sleep/

In many cases, I’m seeing the following which is overriding the initial path to a listing URL even though there is no redirect to it?

    /category/shopping/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/category/news-articles/gifts-news/

Hope that clarifies the issue ??

I wouldn’t worry about spurious requests. Your pages will have the correct canonical URLs set, and that is what is important. Trying to chase down these things will be a neverending game of whac-a-mole that will provide no benefit to your site.

I don’t understand how the category URL is related to the redirect.
