Streaming video only to subscribed users

Hi,

I’m considering using WordPress as the sole infrastructure for a website that should stream video content to certain users only. (Not a new YouTube or anything but rather several videos related to a specific domain of expertise).

The site will be moderately monetized through PayPal and some videos should only be accessible to paying users.

What could be the most recommended plugin for this task, and what internals should be used for conditioning video access such that only paid users can access some of the videos??

Also, will WordPress be relatively scalable in concurrently serving video to multiple users? would it require stronger hosting than the typical hosted WordPress provider usually provides? The video content needs to reside on my side as it needs to be access controlled, so it needs to be hosted from my own hosted service.
