Our SSL setup works just fine. But when we went to activate this new version, as we were forced to, it just fails with the above error.

We just recently moved to this plugin since it looks so nice and works great. But we have a secure environment that also really can’t be sending this info off site. We wanted to check it out before that, but seeing that an update broke it all, we will have to hold off on updating, or find a replacement.

  • Thanks for your feedback! We will look into this error message you’ve reported here.

However, it sounds like the self-hosted version of Stream will be best suited for your needs. All past versions of Stream (which use the WP database for storage) are available on GitHub.

Thank you. We can also submit some data if needed (but would want to do that more directly). While in a secure environment, if this were to get fixed, and this was the right choice for us, the data being off site could be ok.

I installed an earlier version until we either saw a resolution to this, or found a replacement (we had just moved to Stream due to another product going out of support and its replacement requiring a different PHP version).

Our concern with that is the supportability of this moving forward. Eventually, previous versions may fall out of compatibility with WordPress itself. We will watch any forks that help get around that, as we assume you wouldn’t be supporting 1.x moving forward with the 2.0 model.

As a suggestion, it would be great if those who chose could use 2.x with self hosted. We get a lot of traffic, but have no problem hosting the data ourselves.
