Strategy to Learn WordPress
-
Hello — this is my first post.
I started a small web site design business last fall. I have built many web sites using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. I know the basics of PHP. I use Dreamweaver extensively.
That said, I want to quickly learn to use WordPress effectively. I’m not that interested in blogging. I am more interested in CMS.
To get me started I bought WordPress for Dummies by Sabin-Wilson and Beginning WordPress 3 by Leary. These books are OK but didn’t excite me. I find that I learn web design best when a book takes me step by step through an example. I love Dan Cederholm’s books. They have the learner follow an example as the book progresses. Dave Power’s books use that learning technique also.
Is there a well written WordPress book that uses that learning technique? I would love to find a book that uses a non-WordPress static site as a starter and then takes the reader step by step through the process of converting the static site to a WordPress site.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
