Strange Observation with Wildcard
-
I have used the wildcard option like so:
Then if I type into my browser, https://canigivemydog.com/x it returns the default 410 with a white screen stating, “Sorry, the page you requested has been permanently removed.” That’s fine.
However, this is only because I don’t have a post slug beginning with x. If I type in https://canigivemydog.com/z it takes me to https://canigivemydog.com/zantac
Any idea why that is? It is almost like AI ??
I’m trying to figure out if that is a good thing. Basically, I want to do what Google thinks is best. There are no discontinued urls for my site but bots seem to create random urls which I kept adding manually (pain in the neck). Am I using the wildcard wrong? I don’t have any url structure except https://thedomain/slug-example
Thanks!
