    Hi,

We have just discovered a very strange problem when uploading images to the media library. We have 26 users who have the Author role. 3 of them systematically receive an error message when uploading images : “You don’t have permission to attach files to this post”. However, this only happens when they upload using Medias | Media Library | Add button. If they use the Media | Add menu directly, there’s no problem. This doesn’t affect users having the Editor role or more generally accounts having the edit_posts capability. Strange !

All the authors have the same permissions and capabilities. So, I compared the metadata of these particular 3 users to the metadata of the other authors. The very first difference I noticed was that these 3 users were working in grid mode in RML, not in list mode like the others. So, I set the media_library_mode to 1 for the 3 users and bingo, the problem disappeared.

I’m not sure whether this is an RML or a WP problem, though. We are still running WP 5.9.5 + Elementor (latest) + Astra (latest) + RML (latest).

I didn’t check what happens when disabling RML (will this do something to our folder structure ?).

Anyway, we can certainly live with this but I’m curious : how an option in the presentation layer can affect the processing or data layer in a software? This sheds some doubt on the validity of the WordPress programming model.

OK. The problem is a conflict with the “One User Avatar” extension.

    Sorry for the trouble.

If anyone knows another extension compatible with RML and allowing the users to upload their avatar, thanks in advance.
