Love your search engine. Seems to work well on my site, however, in admin under “User Searches”, I am getting some strange Common Queries results. Such as:

    xyz/feed/rss2/e/page/s/feed/u

    See image: https://static.bjrnet.com/temp/CommonQueriesTest.jpg

I am allowing searching on a specific post type as follows:
[searchform post_types=”tdih_event”] <– History Database plugin

    I am using:
WordPress 5.3 running Twenty Fourteen – Child Theme.

    Any ideas ???

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Those are likely bots trolling for urls like https://www.example.com/search/xyz/feed/rss2/e/page/s/feed/u. Not actual searches.

If they are a major problem, then the solution is to figure out from server access logs which bots are doing it and then blocking those bots from accessing your site.

First thing I did do is add a few of the words to the STOP list. Such as xyz, feed, rss, page, etc. I don’t think people will be searching for those words on my site.

    Thanks for input.

I looked up a few of the IPs associated with these are most (99%) are from Google. Hmmmmm…

I don’t think I want to block Google.

Google follows the robots.txt instructions, so you can add a block in the robots.txt file that will stop Google from indexing anything under /search.

Ahhh…. OK, I will give that a try.

    Thank you for your help.
