• Hi All,

Some strange code is appearing as a pageview in my statcounter stats for my website. I have searched my theme and plugin files and cannot find this. The Google search engine flagged it as an issue when indexing my site. I would like to fix this but am not sure what to do. Am wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

Any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you.

  • What kind of “statcounter stats” do you mean?

I am referring to my visitor logs in Statcounter.com. The code appears where normally the URL of the visited page would appear. This has happened in a few instances only.

Then you should rather contact their support. I know of similar entries with previous Google Analytics accounts or other access counters. There are often spam entries that are not real entries but serve to place advertising. Sometimes this works, sometimes (like with you) not and you only see a strange code. I see no connection with a WordPress installation here.

Thank you, threadi. I did not suspect spam as there is no link to a third-party website. It looks like a piece of random code, maybe from a plugin or theme. The name of the page appearing next to it is that of my homepage… I will contact StatCounter support as you suggest.
