I’m seeing very odd behaviour on iPads with the free Astra theme. The behaviour varies depending on the model of iPad.

On a new iPad Air (4th generation) the site looks fine. In landscape mode the desktop view is shown, and in portrait mode it switches to the tablet view.

On older iPads (e.g. iPad mini 2, iPad Retina 4th Generation) the site shows the tablet view in portrait mode, but the menu icon is non-responsive (nothing happens when you click it). In landscape mode the view is totally messed up – it’s a hybrid of desktop and tablet. The full desktop header is shown with the menu stacked in the middle. Below the header you can see the tablet header but again the menu button is disabled.

Most of the header settings are default. The menu font is enlarged and menu spacing is adjusted, but the default values for those settings don’t change the behaviour on the iPads.

I’ve fiddled with a bunch of header settings but nothing I’ve tried helps. Hoping someone here has a solution.

I should have noted – the phone view works fine on both Android and iPhone devices that we’ve tested on. The problem we’re seeing is limited to iPads.

We are seeing the issue on an iPad Air (Generation 3) running iOS 15.3.1. I’ve checked other iPads running iOS 15 and they’re ok. Don’t know why that Gen 3 Air is having problems.

I will submit a support request for the fix.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

I’ve applied the fix and it does mostly work. Tested on a couple of older iPads running iOS 12 and a few newer iPads running iOS 15. The problem is still showing up on an iPad Air 3rd Gen running iOS 15 but that seems to be an exception. I’ve updated the ticket with further details.

Thanks for your quick response! Great service.
