Strange behavior from “Recent Posts” in “category”

  • When a category item is navigated to, Recent Posts dumps pretty much every change. From adding categories to plugins or making other changes.

    On the main page, Recent Posts shows up proper.

    In the “Archives” section, the Recent Posts show up proper.

    This behavior only happens on Category items.

  • I see what you mean.
    I would suspect your theme or one of your plugins is doing something with the query on the category pages, that messes up the query for the widget.
    You can try using the Health Check plugin in Troubleshoot mode to disable plugins and theme for your user only, in order to isolate which one is affecting it.

    It seems to be caused by the podcasting plugin I use currently.

    PodLove…

    It seems at least 1 other person had this issue back in 2018.

    But no one responded on their support request in their community.

    Trying to weigh my options here now.

    I could nix the plugin and find some other way of doing things, or hope they fix it.
