    Hi there,

We maintain a StoreFront child theme for over 7 years now, and were pretty happy with it until now.

I can see there’s not been any update for StoreFront a couple of months now.

Does it mean this theme won’t be supported anymore?

We’re currently moving our content from custom stuctured SCSS >> styles.css / template-parts / Elementor, to Gutenberg custom blocks + custom loading logic to optimize the common content…

Now the question is… Should we also consider moving away from this classic theme, and also rebuild the common content with an FSE theme, with theme.json?

    Thank you

  • Hi @schwipps,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I’d like to assure you that our Storefront theme is still supported and continues to receive updates. The frequency of these updates may vary depending on the need for enhancements or fixes.

Should we also consider moving away from this classic theme, and also rebuild the common content with an FSE theme, with theme.json?

As for moving away from the classic theme, it really depends on your specific needs. The Full Site Editing (FSE) theme with theme.json can certainly provide more flexibility and customization options. However, if your current theme is serving your needs well, there may not be a pressing need to switch.

Keep in mind that switching themes can be a significant task, especially if you have a lot of customizations in place. It’s always a good idea to thoroughly test any new theme in a staging environment before making the switch on your live site.

    I hope this helps!
