storefront not showing words/icons in Cart Widget

Thank you for your response!
I had a friend trying to help me with CSS in the widget but we had no luck because it differs in the codes with different media so there is missing code for mobile vs tablet and desktop for the Remove icon, missing words Subtotal, Shipping, Total.
The divider between the products in the table is missing in mobile. Also the “every other row” BG color is not editable between desktop-tablet-mobile.
The friend managed to fix the missing words with CSS but I’d prefer not to add CSS.

I can make screeen dumps for you If you wish.

We’ll need to get a better idea of the behaviour and the best way is by checking it ourselves. ??

That said, you can try running a full conflict test to see if there’s a plugin causing this.

The best way to determine this is to:

• Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing the conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation of how to do a conflict test here.

I have had Storefront Theme the whole time and that’s were the errors are occuring. When I temporarily switched to Twenty Twenty theme the errors disappeared.

I removed all custom css and deactivated all plugins except woocommerce and elementor (+pro). Nothing changed.

From what I understand from my coding friend, there is missing code for the cart widget in specific @media desktop/tablet/mobile so we can’t even “fix it” with css because the class is not there.

What is missing is:

The “product-remove” icon (X) is not visible, but if I view the source code it is supposed to be there.

The words SUBTOTAL , SHIPPING and TOTAL are not visible unless I inspect source code and drag the dimensions narrower than 760 px.

Can you please perform a conflict test on your site and let us know of your findings?

Here are some steps you can follow:

The best way to determine if the issue is being caused by a theme and/or plugin is to:

1. Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront, without Elementor Pro active; since this is the reason this thread was started. You have already mentioned it works properly with the Twenty Twenty theme active.
2. Try to reproduce the problem: Check whether you can see everything as expected, or like in the last screenshot you’re sharing with us!
If the problem is resolved, it’s a theme conflict. If not, continue to the next steps.
3. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce. You can do this manually or use a plugin to help (see below for tools).
4. Try to reproduce the problem again. If the problem is resolved, it’s a plugin conflict. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, continue to the next step.
5. Reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.

You can clone your site to a staging environment and perform tests without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

Thank you so much for helping me figure this out! So apparently it is Elementor Pro causing it. I did contact their support first and they even got a guest login to my backend but they said that there is no problem on their end so it must be the theme. That’s why I didn’t deactive Elementor pro plugin when troubleshooting. My GOD!! Getting grey hair from this. Again, thank you for your patience and kind help!

So I have been in contact with Elementor support again. It seems that Storefront Theme and Elementor Pro has compatibility problems with the Cart widget. I cannot fix this incompatability myself and fixing it with custom CSS feels very risky. Sadly it seems like I’m going to have to switch theme. I just want you guys at Storefront to know about this and now it is up to you to do what you please with this information.

Kindly note that since the culprit of this issue was the Elementor Pro plugin, and not the Storefront theme, alerting them about fixing this would be the best course of action for enabling you to keep using the Storefront theme, along with the Elementor Pro plugin.

Sadly it seems like I’m going to have to switch theme.
