    Hello !

I’m writing this topic because I come across a problem regarding my online store

Indeed, I would like the main version of my online store to be in French, and to be sure of so I’ve followed this tutorial :

    https://translatepress.com/change-woocommerce-language/

But even so, there are some aspects of my store which do not translate into French…

For example, “cart” remains “cart”, when the customer is about to checkout, pieces of information like “coupon code” or “your order” are still in English when some other are in French… Same for “update cart” and several others…

An dI can’t go through my translation plugin to try to go through this issue as it considers that these pieces of information are in French language, which is the language of my website, and so, prevents me from doing any modification…

So I’m wondering what is happening, or if maybe this may come down to another plugin or I don’t know…

I of course really would like to have this problem solved as I would like my customers being provided all the information in the right language…

I’m looking forward to your answer !

On that note, I wish you a nice day !

  • Hello,

Could you first go to WP-Admin > Dashboard > Updates, and check if translations are all up to date? If not, updating it should fix the issue.

    Hello !

    Thanks for your answer

I had checked it before but the translations are already up to date… So “unfortunately” the problem doesn’t seem to be coming from there…

    Hi @toad1010

I understand what you mean. This usually happens when you first install WooCommerce and select the default site language (English) and later change the site language to another one.

In WooCommerce, the strings that have not been translated, are stored in the database after the initial WooCommerce installation. Therefore, if the site language is changed to another one, there is no way for WooCommerce to detect a translatable string since these are database entries.

You can try using Loco Translate to find the words that haven’t been translated, and translate the words manually.

Another possible issue might be that the theme you are using has hard-coded these words. In that case, switching the theme may help.

    Thanks.
