• Wordbooker seems to pull comments from Facebook for the first several runs then stops completely. Any ideas? Using WB 2.2.1 on FB 3.81.

I do not republish or update or make any changes, it just seems to stop. Also, when I do a forced a manual comment handling, nothing happens.

Log is of little value to me as I cannot figure it out. No errors appear to be logged. These are the last few entires however:

Comment handling diagnostics are marked as comment handling.

Have you got auto close set on comments? Wordbooker wont process comments from Facebook if the blog post is closed for comments.

Set your diagnostic level to Show Everything (in the advanced settings). Save the settings
    Clear down the diagnostic log
    Manually Run comment handling

That should produce a set of comment related diagnostics.

Thnaks Steve for your quick response. I sincerely appreciate it. I did have the “Automatically close comments on articles older than” in WP set 90 days but unchecked the box entirely. I cleared diagnostics, and WP cache, did a manual run for WB with same results- latest comments did not publish.

What is puzzling is that it does pull comments right after the post is published so I know WB/FB are working as designed but then it stops.

    This is the log:

OK so that gives us a list of the FB posts and the WP posts.

So we can see that blog post 7479 has 2 FB posts associated with it :

    260264377326028_290622407623558

    and

    260264377326028_290622867623512

but comment handling is disabled for them.

So what’s the blog post ID of the post that has stopped processing comments? Wordbooker obeys the comment settings for the blog so if your blog closes posts for comments after 14 days then Wordbooker will stop pulling posts from FB.

    Thread Starter alanarnette

    (@alanarnette)

18163 and comments are enabled on that post

    Plugin Author Steve

    (@steveatty)

But 18163 isn’t in that list – and given that the last post ID in that list is just over 7400 I’m surprised you’re at 18163 but its a real post if I use /?p=18163

If you go to the Wordbooker options page there is a set of table stats at the bottom – can you copy and paste the row for the postcomments table?

    Thread Starter alanarnette

    (@alanarnette)

Table ‘w8m9ja_wordbooker_postcomments’ is present and contains 2 rows

I only have one author for this blog, me.

Thus is what I see on my post page when I publish: All are checked yes
Push Comments from this post to Facebook
Pull Comments from Facebook for this post
Enable Facebook Comments for this post

What I don’t understand is why it pulls comments at first but then stops when nothing else has changed on the entire blog.

I have checked and rechecked all the WB config and it all looks correct to me Steve.

I agree the post’s ID in question does not show up in the diagnostics but I know WB processed that specific post as it showed up on FB and pulled the first 15 comments but none since.

    Plugin Author Steve

    (@steveatty)

Two rows… then those posts are not in here. It sounds like something has deleted the rows from the table. It is possible that if Facebook returned an error 100 (post not found error) then Wordbooker would have deleted the row but unless FB went seriously wrong it wouldn’t have deleted that many rows.

Do you back your Database up at all?

    Thread Starter alanarnette

    (@alanarnette)

Yes have a backup. Hmm, this is a real mystery as I can’t see how something would be deleted since I didn’t do it manually and I’m 99% sure no plugs did since the content is all still there. Oh, well, thanks Steve for all your help.

    Plugin Author Steve

    (@steveatty)

Just see if you can see how many rows there are in that table in backup… If its more then we can get the data back and merge it into the existing table

    Thread Starter alanarnette

    (@alanarnette)

I think I will delete WB and reinstall from scratch then do a new post and see what happens with full diag turned on so I can track the post number this time. Thnaks again.

    Plugin Author Steve

    (@steveatty)

OK – there’s a couple of lines in the comment handling file that can be commented out to stop it deleting records if FB sends a 100 error code.
