    Sounds like there was a curl error thrown. You should have received an email to your admin email with the curl error details. Did you get such an email?

    SetExpressCheckout call failed.

    Error Code: 0
    Detailed Error Message: Resolving timed out after 30001 milliseconds

    This is what the emails said – I changed to regular Paypal and entered the same API details and it’s working – But Paypal Express just stopped working this evening. I haven’t made any changes to the website today…

    Another email said

    SetExpressCheckout call failed.

    Error Code: 0
    Detailed Error Message: Could not resolve: api-3t.paypal.com (Timeout while contacting DNS servers)

    For some reason your server is not able to reach PayPal’s API server. I haven’t had any other reports of this, though, so my guess is that your hosting company has done something with their DNS servers, or maybe PayPal updated something and your DNS servers are just a little bit slow to update.

    That sort of thing typically resolves itself within 12 – 24 hours, if not faster.

    We have resolved the issue causing the fatal error you were getting when the connection to PayPal failed. That update will be included in our 1.2.4 release coming soon.

    Is everything else working for you now?
