Stopped working after trying google custom search

Did the Google Custom Search do any changes to your search results template?

Sorry, I am unsure. How would I find out?

Do you have backups of your site before you installed Google Custom Search? If you do, you can compare search results templates. If you don’t have backups, you can post you search results template to a Pastebin, for example, and I can take a look.

Ok, I restored the original search.php file but that did not help. When Relevanssi is activated, I don’t results for any search terms.

There are no problems in the search results template.

Have you tried disabling other plugins? There are some plugins that can conflict with Relevanssi, for example Yoast Local SEO prevents Relevanssi from working.

Thanks so much for checking it. I’m wondering if the WPMUDev plugin left something in my database that isn’t going away even though I’ve deactivated and deleted it.

I think that’s unlikely. I would try disabling other plugins and switching to a default theme to see if that helps.

Thank you. I came across this after searching the issue in the theme’s support forum. It appears to be a known issue. Someone said they had a fix (https://www.thebinary.in/blog/make-relevanssi-plugin-work-with-betheme/) however I tried it and it did not help. So, does this appear to be just an issue with the theme or is it the plugin?

With that fix, try changing this line from your search.php:

<?php if( have_posts() && trim( $_GET['s'] ) ): ?>

to this:

<?php if( have_posts() ): ?>

Thank you for that. Sorry but I cannot tell now because that site with the “fix” won’t come up, looks like their hosting expired. I didn’t save a copy of the fix so I can’t remember what to do ??

I tried the change in search.php but no results.

This could be very helpful because I couldn’t find any solution in muffin group/BEtheme nor Relevanssi forum. Just the hidden wrong link.
