Stopped working after changing networkwide setting

I activated the plugin on a multisite installation, created a template on the main site, went to one of the sub-sites and set template as the dashboard, logged into that site as another user that should see the custom dashboard and it appeared. Made various edits to the page, everything was working fine. I then realised the settings also appeared on the network dashboard, so I changed them there for all sub-sites and clicked the checkbox to prevent the settings showing on the sub-sites. When I saved the settings, the checkbox was unchecked, and wouldn’t remain checked. When I went back to the sub-site and logged in as a user that should see the dashboard, it now doesn’t show, and the “Welcome” option isn’t in the Screen Options tab. I’ve tried disabling and even uninstalling the plugin, nothing will make it work again after I tried to set the networkwide settings.
