I’ve got a retail site that gets about 1000-1200 unique visitors a day.

I’ve got WPP tracking a custom post type, called “product.”

Over 30 days, it’s showing some 12,000 views Over 7 days, it’s showing 182.

For the past 24 hours, it’s showing nothing.

Sometime in the past week, WPP seems to have stopped counting views.

Any idea what might cause this? I’ve made no changes to the site during this time.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Since the issue is reproducible -on your site at least- I’d try contacting them. They can see what’s changed between versions and maybe figure out what’s going on. Have them check this topic if you must, it might contain info they could use to pinpoint the problem.

Will do. Given the wide variety of applications for WordPress and the large number of plugins, I’m surprised that I don’t encounter this sort of compaitiblity problem more often.

I have alerted them to this thread and I’ll post back if anything useful comes of it.

The Woocommerce team has replied; they’ve suggested that it must be some other plugin.

I don’t see how upgrading Woocommerce alone would cause some other plugin break WPP.

I’ll disable all my plugins and test it, I guess.

Thanks for the update, Charlie. Please let us (the WC team and me) know what the results are.

OK. At the recommendation of the Woocommerce team, I copied my site to a staging site and tried changing the theme and deactivating all plugins except Woocommerce 3.6.2 and WPP.

Wordpress Popular Posts still does not work.

Now what?

Just checked one of your products and this time WPP was able to track the visit as expected:

REST API 200 response

So there’s a pretty big chance it’s one of your plugins that’s causing the issue.

I just can’t figure this out.

I currently have only two plugins active on my test site:

WPP

Woocommerce

I have a couple of product pages open in two other browsers.

With Woocommerce 3.5.8, refreshing those product pages in either browser increases the page view count in WPP stats.

When I upgrade Woocommerce to 3.6.2, the page views no longer increment with a page refresh.

If I revert Woocommerce to 3.5.8, refreshing the product page increases the page view count.

If I upgrade Woocommerce again, the page views won’t increment with a page refresh.

I’m still fairly certain this is a Woocommerce issue.

On your test site you’re using WooCommerce 3.6.2 right now, though. Just visited a few products and every time WPP tracked each visit successfully:

I’m not seeing any changes on my WPP stats page. I’ve refreshed that AC/DC page in two different browsers a half a dozen times and it’s not showing up on my stats page at all.

The stats page is configured to show my only post type “product,” by the way and I have it set to show the top 75 most-viewed items.

Not seeing it. Or anything else that I’m refreshing.

If it would help, I’d be happy to give you access to the test site so you can look at it first hand.

Well, that’s a different issue than the one you originally reported: WPP wasn’t tracking visits due to an issue yet to be determined. WPP not displaying visits on the admin site is surely something entirely different.

Please get in touch with me so we can continue debugging this privately.

Just thought I should update this topic with some more information.

Charlie created a clone of his website on his server so we could debug the issue. Upgrading WooCommerce to version 3.6.2 while using the following plugins somehow seems to invalidate the nonce key WPP uses to send requests to the REST API, triggering the 403 Forbidden response as seen here:

• WooCommerce 3.6.2
• WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway 1.6.11
• WordPress Popular Posts 4.2.2

Reverting WooCommerce to version 3.5.8 or disabling the WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway plugin fixes the issue (even with WC 3.6.2), but of course that’s just a temporary solution that Charlie would like to avoid.
