    Hi.

    My the plugin has stopped working for no apparent reason.

    For now I only have an active popup that worked perfectly in the first few days, but suddenly stopped working.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Rui Freitas

  • Hi Rui and thanks for jumping in here Frank ??

    I’ve checked your site and for me, the popup shows up on the first load only, on the second one it will show the error that you mentioned above.
    So it seems that it happens once the page is cached, however, I still can’t replicate this behavior on my site ??

    I would like to get some recap on the current setup that you’re running based on the above discussion.

    Superpwa – Is it deactivated completely now, can you perhaps try removing it so we can make sure it doesn’t have some leftovers still running on site?

    Windscribe – It’s the VPN service, correct? That’s also disabled for you now, correct?

    HTML, CSS and JS optimizations are all off now but the issue is still there?

    Is W3TC still running on your site, did you try completely uninstalling it because W3TC is known for leftovers even after removing the plugin completely?

    Which WP version do you use and do you have JetPack running on your site?

    Cheers,

    Hi, predrag.

    After all the kind suggestions from Frank and the tests I did which didn’t work, I put all the settings as they were in the beginning.

    And so:
    Superpwa – is enabled;
    Windscribe – (a VPN service) is enabled;
    HTML, CSS, and JS optimizations are all enabled;

    As nothing has changed which means that the plugin only works properly with Autoptimize off, I figured out the possibility of some confusion with some tables and I ran WP-Optimize.

    And apparently because of this (my knowledge doesn’t allow me to be sure) the problem has been solved. Now the plugin runs and the only problem is what I said before and it did not happen to you, which is, the popup does not appear on the first load of the site.

    I have WordPress 4.9.8 but the next night I will update it and then I will redo all the tests to see if there are any changes and I’ll let you know.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Rui

    Hi Predrag.

    Now I already have WP 5.0.2 installed and did what was suggested in Autoptimize.

    * disabled JS optimization and see if it works and if it does – Nothing
    * enable JS optimization but disable JS aggregation and see if it works and if it does – The popup appears after refresh
    * enable JS optimization & aggregation but exclude hustle’s JS from JS optimization – The popup appears after refresh

    Then I enabled all of those items and included wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popup on Async JS files. – The same result:The popup appears after refresh.

    Strangely, sometimes the popup appears after the first refresh and sometimes in the second or third but never the first time the page loads and I tested with Chrome, Firefox, and Opera.

    Thanks,
    Rui

    Hi Rui,

    Results on your site are really inconsistent, when I tested it now it opened up the popup on first try, however when I opened it up in incognito window and in another browser it didn’t work there.

    Can you check if module.js is excluded from all caching and optimization and give it another try after that?

    Cheers,
    Predrag

    Hi Predrag.

    I just tested it and the popup appears after the first refresh in Opera and Firefox and after the second refresh in Chrome, all in anonymous mode.

    I have “wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popup” in “Java-script files in asynchronous mode”;
    Optimize Java-script (yes)
    AggregateJS files (not)

    I don’t know how to exclude module.js from all caching and optimization

    Thanks,
    Rui

    Hi Rui,

    When you go to Settings > Autoptimize and enable Advanced settings you can exclude the file like this:

    Let me know if that does the trick.
