I took over this client’s website for their blogging and I have been noticing that THOUSANDS of images are being auto generated!!!! I provided a link to an example. These are all screenshots/thumbnails of the youtube videos that are on their website. Is there ANY WAY that I can stop these images from being auto generated?! it is becoming a nightmare trying to manually delete them. And whenever I do delete them, right away a new image is generated. HELP!!!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It does seem like those images are being used though. They’re there for when the video fails, when JavaScript does not load and there is 1 thumbnail per video.

What is the underlying problem you are solving, is it that your hosting service doesn’t provide enough space for the content on your site?

I’m honestly not entirely sure what the underlying problem is. Is there a plugin I can use to address the Javascript issue to see if this will fix the default image problem? I don’t need any of these hqdefault images, they are taking up pointless space on my site

By underlying problem I mean why are you trying to remove these images?

Yes. I want all the default images removed, and hopefully find a way to stop them from being auto-generated moving forward

Hi! If I got it right, something is getting your YouTube links and getting the thumbnails as media attachments, is that right?

If so, it is not something WordPress would do. Most probably, you have a plugin doing that somehow. Can you please share the list of your active plugins?

    Hi Felipe!

As a note, I did not have this issues up until 2 days ago. Something on my website was broken (i believe due to the htaccess), and so I ended up removed about 4 or 5 plugins.

I THINK I need to install some website speed optimization plugin as that is one of the one that I removed.

Here is a list of all my ACTIVE plugins.

404 to 301 – Redirect, Log and Notify 404 Errors
    Advanced Custom Fields
    Advanced Custom Fields: Repeater Field
    Advanced Custom Fields: WP WYSIWYG
    Autoptimize
    Block Bad Queries (BBQ)
    Contact Form 7
    Head and Footer Scripts Inserter
    Limit Login Attempts Reloaded
    Max Mega Menu
    UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore
    WP File Manager
    WP Force SSL
WP SEO Structured Data Schema Pro
    Yoast SEO Premium

I ended up paying GoDaddy for the WordPress support. While they normally don’t fix issues with custom websites/templates, they helped me out this one time. Something was broken in the site coding that needed fixing.

That’s great, did they come back with what the problem was and what their solution was?
