• I do not want users to be able to register on my site and have the “anyone can register” option unchecked. Still, I find here and there, I get a registered user. I’m not sure how that is happening and what I can do to prevent registration. I’m sure this reflects a newbie misunderstanding of how registration works within WP, so enlightenment and / or pointing to a resource would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

    Tom

  • I twice had new accounts show up at a site even though I had “Anyone can register” un-checked, and that stopped immediately after I had deleted an FTP account I had made for someone. Overall, you might need to change at least your MySQL database password at cPanel phpMyAdmin and in wp-config.php (matching) to help assure no outside access is being made there. Also, maybe put your own domain in here and check to be certain a message saying registration is not available is returned:
