Stop submitting form

Hello!

I would like to know if there is a way (for example: after a certain time) to stop the submission of a form in progress. I wrote a condition in which I check if a remote server is available, and if not, I want to stop sending and print an error message (or redirect the page to another). For now, however, the spinner spins endlessly and nothing much happens with the form in this case.
