Stop responsive design – same layout on all devices

    Hi. I’ve designed a website layout on my computer only to find out that the template is designed to move the contents around to best fit the device it’s viewed on.

    What I really want is for the site to look exactly the same on all devices. It’s not a problem that the text will shrink.. I just don’t want my images to move around as they are when I view the site on an ipad or phone currently.

    Any words of wisdom?

    Hi alon73…. if I understand correctly, you would like all devices to display the site as it does on a full monitor view, but not have page elements changed or rearranged when on a mobile device?

    Unfortunately this is what responsive does…it rearranges everything in a website to accommodate various mobile devices. If I was correct in my understanding, what you would want then is a non-responsive theme that doesn’t change when resized (downsized). This means your site page will stay the same, but a person will simply be scrolling the page up/down left/right.

    Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. You are correct – that’s what I was looking for – I should have worked from a non-responsive theme. As it happens the people I’m doing this for are happy with the way it’s displaying on mobile devices, so I’ll just delay looking for a different theme for the time being.

    You’re very welcome…and hopefully everything works out.

    On 2 websites created on the Preference theme (links from this support forum) I’ve seen a possibility to switch to mobile / standard version. Do you think it was a plugin?
