• I installed the “Optin Forms” plugin using “MailChimp.” I thought my site visitors would only receive a notification from me when I send out an email. Instead, they get a notification EVERY TIME I respond to someone’s comment. I have received several complaints from visitors asking me to remove their name from my subscribers list as a result. How can I turnoff the notification and turn it back on when I’m ready to notify them of something?

    Hi @crellington

Our plugin does not send out emails. It’s just a form that forwards the subscriber info to MailChimp when someone fills in and submits the form.

Do you have an automated campaign set up on MailChimp based on RSS feed? More info on that at https://mailchimp.com/help/share-your-blog-posts-with-mailchimp/

Thank you for responding so quickly. I checked my Mail Chimp automations and I don’t have any set-up. I don’t understand why several people (who say they subscribed to my website) are getting notifications every time I reply to someone else’s comment. Do you have any other thoughts on what the problem could be and how to resolve it?

    Hi @crellington

The campaign automation is the only thing that comes to mind.

Are you 100% sure that they are received a Mailchimp related email?

Did they forward you the emails they received?

Hi, they did not forward me the emails they received because they sent the message to me through the “Comments” section after one of my blog post. Should I use their email address from the “Comment” they posted to request a copy of the notification they received? I’m a little nervous about doing that, because they may attach a computer virus in their email to me.

    Hi @crellington

Get the email address they supplied when they left the comment. Then check if that email address is in the subscribers list on MailChimp.

If not, you can just go ahead and disregard those comments they made, could just be spam.

If they are subscribed, send them an email (to the address from the comment) and ask them to forward the emails. If you’re worried about viruses, simply don’t click any links or download attachments from the email.
