I notice that when a user comes to a page with the chat enabled, a generic guest name is entered. Is it possible to turn this feature off and simply create placeholder text, i.e., “Enter your Name”. It would be great to force the user to enter a name, in case they did not.

No sorry not a current feature of the plugin. I like the idea though and have added to the list for a future version of the plugin. Thank you for the feedback, @leefuller.

Thanks for the quick response Jeff. I wonder, could you maybe point me to a place to modify the code for this type of feature, at least removing the auto-generated name and for me to set the placeholder? I’m sure I could figure it out – being a developer. However, may be faster to point me at the proper place.

    Thanks again!

Yeah it would be possible but not easy. The functionality you’re looking at is all Ajax-powered, so there would PHP/JavaScript code to modify in files such as simple-ajax-chat-form.php, /resources/sac.php, and possibly elsewhere.

Great, thanks Jeff. I’ll take a look and see what I can do. Of course, I’ll share with you anything I find/do – for your benefit of upcoming releases.

On a side note, is there a way to have separate chats on separate pages? I.e., a “chatId” in the shortcode?

Thanks for great responsiveness, by the way.

Not a current feature. You can display the same chat window on multiple pages, but the content will be the same.
