    Hi Jetpack Team,
As per the title, I had some old 2016 posts where I updated the permalink to make it better for SEO. When I updated the post with the new url, it sent an email notification to subscribers. Is there a way to stop this while I update urls of other old posts?

    Thanks,
    Raymond

It won’t send notifications for posts that were already sent via Jetpack. For the rest, we recommend disabling the subscriptions from Jetpack > Settings before you edit an older post. ??

Hi James, thanks for letting me know. Can you confirm: if I disable subscriptions from Jetpack, would it delete the existing subscribers? I don’t want to enable it to find out I have 0 subscribers.

It won’t reset your subscribers to 0, it will simply stop sending out subscription emails and it won’t allow new signups while it’s off.

Hi, I turned it off and did my stuff. And then I turned it on, then published a new post. I noticed that no notifications were sent. I went back to the settings and saw it was disabled again. I cannot seem to turn the feature back on. When I turn it on, then go back to the settings, it is back to off! Please help.

What is the URL of the site with the problem?

Would you please make sure that the JSON API module is switched on via the All Modules view, also please try enabling the Subscriptions module there: https://jetpack.com/support/control-jetpacks-modules-on-one-page/

It seems to be ok after visiting the Modules page. But now it’s too late because the post is published. ?? I’ll make sure to go thru the Modules page in the future.

Hi James, this issue is back again. This time, I tried both enabling thru Module page and Settings page to no avail. I have JSON API module turned off if you want to take a look.

    Hi there!

I have JSON API module turned off if you want to take a look.

It seems that it’s actually switched on.

Can you walk me through the steps you’re taking when you’re changing a post’s URL?

    Thread Starter travellingfoodie

    (@travellingfoodie)

Sorry, my mistake. Yes it is turned on because that’s what James said above (“make sure that the JSON API module is switched on”)

When I need to change a post url, these are the steps I do:
    – turn off Subscriptions
    – edit blog post
    – edit permalink
    – click update
    – turn on Subscriptions

On another note, I just checked today and Subscriptions are magically turned on. Was it just a big delay in the activation?

Subscriptions are on now, and I don’t see anything that would be causing this problem offhand.

Perhaps some caching that’s also caching things in the Dashboard?

Subscriptions are definitely on now though.

    Hello,
Can you confirm that there is an update that now resolves this issue? I have been updating permalinks recently with Subscriptions turned on, and now there are no notifications sent to subscribers. Just want to confirm.

    Hi there,

You need to update the permalinks while the Subscriptions module is turned off otherwise the trick won’t work.
