stop changing filenames on upload

  • Is there any way your plug in can STOP changing the filesnames of the files i have uploaded? or… better yet… is there a way to get the file name to be the posttitle1.jpg, posttitle2.jpg etc.
    I have spent hours RENAMING my files before I upload them and they are impossible to search for in the media directory with the names the plugin uses.
    I am not concerned about security issues. This is a private website for client use only.

    Have you disabled the file rename option in the plugins security options?

    hey ben. i feel a little dumb. i missed that item in the settings. so the plug in is working correctly – but i would love to be able to rename the files as they upload. I am using a plug in that should do it automatically – but it doesnt work when i upload from a form. The plug in is Easy Upload Renamer. I assume that the files are not renamed because they are uploaded before the post is created (ie. before the submit button is clicked).

    is it possible to have the files renamed according to the post title (which comes from the name and a custom field in the form) and have the files numbered sequentially? ie. newfile-1.jpg new-file2.jpg etc?

    this is a wonderful plugin, and i have the same sort of problem. The description says the file is named ‘temporarily’ as a precaution against hackers. But it seems permanently set with the given random name. So i have it working the way i want, with the settings as given. But now i am sort of worried about the malicious possibility. It seems that once it gets past the temporary directory, and the form is submitted, it should have the original name, with some security in place. perhaps to make the plugin foolproof there would be some sort of scan on the image or the video before placed in the temp directory, then put in the media library with the original name..? I think this plugin deserves your full support.
