Stop adding numbers in front of headings

    I put a number in front of my headings, e.g.
    1. why xyz
    2. where xyz
    3. how xyz

    But, the TOC adds another number in front. so it becomes:
    1.1 why xyz
    2.2 where xyz
    3.3 how xyz

    How can I stop the app from adding numbers in front of my headings?

    Please navigate to the Table of Contents setting admin page. Find the Counter option in the General settings section, change it to None, and save the change.

    Any chance to get that on the page level? Technically this is only an issue with number lists. Very few sites would have every post as a numbered list. Disabling it globally would have undesired effects.

    what kind of undesirable effects could there be? and why is it undesirbale?
