It looks nice, except that with my old eyes I cannot read anything because of the tiny font size.

mmm good call on the font size, my Dad says much the same thing.

yeah i didn’t really think that title through. ha

Going to second (third?) the font-size call. My “comfortably well into my 30s” year old eyes are struggling a bit. The design is nice though, looks good.

so the font is to small then?

    (@vkaryl)

It’s not impossible (my eyes are actually older than most around here). I think it’s not so much the font SIZE as it is the lack of contrast against all that white. Now, I’m not a fan of black background sites at all. But neither am I a fan of white background sites.

Philosophizing: for years, we’ve had black ink or graphite on white paper. Now we have the internet, we have the rainbow at our fingertips, and still there’s vast expanses of plain white background with black text (or in your case greyish).

I don’t revisit sites with white (or black) backgrounds. Try using some colors. (um. Not that my opinion means much….)

I’d agree: a little to small, and too light.

In my opinion, you can — perhaps — use tiny fonts (although I’d call yours smaller than tiny) for short bits of text (like menu links; again, perhaps) … but assuming that people will squint to read your entries is assuming a lot.

looks great, make the font twice as big

I’m not sure what i make of this … BUT I have given the body font a bit more contrast.

    Yeah. It’s better….

What to make of it…. nothing, if white is your thing. Or black.

But white, black, and shades of grey are so – limiting.

Hey I really like your pictures page. What did you use for it? A plugin (which?), or did you just start posting your pictures as blog entries?

I don’t really see the need to use 32 million colours just because i can. I find I play around with colours then come back to white.

It’s somewhat ironic to be having this conversation on a site where it’s all about the white black and grey.

As to the gallery, it’s a plugin from https://qdig.sourceforge.net, I wrestled with it a bit but it’s all there. The developer is very thorough with his support to.

The extra contrast helps — at least for me. ??

    Exellent work!

Dunnoe if you changed the font size or not, but it’s perfect here (Mac: Safari and Firefox) I love 9px type (1em @ 62.5%)

That gallery is so pretty, it really out to be a plugin!

    beautiful.

“I don’t revisit sites with white (or black) backgrounds. Try using some colors.”

I was taught to put black text on a white background if I wanted my visitors to actually read my articles, instead of cursing my name because they can’t see them. Every site I’ve designed has had a white background. I’m an artist, so I know color has its place—and its place is not behind text.
