Stock not always reduced

  • This started about a week ago after updating to WooCommerce 4.5.1.

    Sometimes stock is not reduced and it looks different in the order.

    The order line should look like this:
    Product X – Medium
    Variation ID: xxxxx

    Instead it looks like this:
    Product X
    Size: Medium

    And there seems to be no logic. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. And even for the same product.. Not the same variant from what I’ve seen but I see no difference between the variants. And all are set to manage stock.

    In this case Klarna checkout is used.

    Thank you for your response. Well, it’s the same product actually. It’s a variable product. And nothing was changed to the setup of the product or the webshop between the two orders.

    It happens for variable products. It seems they are treated as simple products as no “Variation ID” is displayed on the order line. The variant that the customer wanted (had to call them as it was not visible) was out of stock.
    And this only happens very rarely which makes it hard to debug.

    Please ensure that Lightspeed Cache and any other caching on your site does not cache the Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages as explained in this guide.

    For the appearance of the variation with the product name, does it help to add the following filter to your site using a plugin like Codes Snippets?

    Payment gateway

    Is this issue happening with other payment gateways besides Klarna Checkout?

    If the issue is limited to Klarna Checkout, you can choose Klarna Checkout as the product when sending a ticket so that your request can be directed to Krokedil, the developers of the extension.

    Hi @drwpcom,

    Thank you for your help.

    While investigating something else I injected some js-errors and noticed that it’s then possible to add a variable product to the cart without selecting a variant. So I believe this could be the cause to the issues.
    For some reason there must have been a intermittent js-error on the product pages. I’ve now installed the “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” plugin to check if I have issues with deprecated function calls.

    I’ve seen the issue with both Klarna and Stripe. But I think this is most likely some other plugin generating js-errors and not a WooCommerce issue so you can close this issue for now.
