stock management
-
Hey Marc,
thank you so much for the help so far. We have all but decided to go with your plug-in, as we prefer the look and feel of it over the other options we have checked out these days. We also love the very simple way of implementing the layers, views and choices!
There is one last and very important question, though, concerning the stock management addon, which we would absolutely need in order for customers not to order skates with red wheels, for instance, when we are sold out of red wheels.
Our skates consist of wheels, trucks, decks and grip tape, and the customer would choose the colors of these components using your configurator. On our website, wheels are one variable product, with variations for all the colors. Same for the other components which are set up the same way.
The question is now, if we use the stock/linked products addon, can we link the choice “red wheel” to the variation “red” of the product “wheels”, or can we only link to the product “wheels” itself? As the colors are only variations of a product (and all the variations have their own stock) we would need to link to the variation and not the main product. From the screenshots on the add-on page, it was not entirely clear for us if this is possible or not (and we hope it is).
If this were not possible, we would have to create single products for each color of each component in order to be able to use your configurator with stock, which would be incredibly unfortunate, as we have around 50 color variations for grip tape alone, and more than 10 for decks, trucks and wheels, respectively.
I hope I explained clearly, what I mean, and I hope even more that this all works! We are so looking forward to implementing and rolling out the configurator. We were about to buy the stock addon when we noticed that there was this last uncertainty, which is unfortunately super important for us. As we have so many colors for each part, we absolutely need to have the configurator linked to our stock in order to keep customers from placing orders we cannot fulfill.
Thanks again and best regards!
