The site is having a very strange stock level issue, when certain purchases are made for example this product: https://vitacanis.co.uk/product/paw-butter-for-dry-pads/ the stock level will go from 9 to -57. It is also happening on other products but not all as far as I can tell.

I have used the troubleshooting mode with the twentytwenty theme enables and only the woocommerce plugin active and it still happens.

I am pulling my hair out over this so any help will be appreciated

Hi @glowmedialimited. I’m sorry that we missed your initial post.

Can you make sure that there is no caching on your Cart, Checkout and My Account pages as per this guide?

You mentioned that you did conflict testing and the issue still occurred. Was that when using a default theme as well. Could you share a screenshot of an order where this inventory change occurred, with the order notes on the right hand side included? Please redact any private information. You can share the image using a tool like https://snipboard.io.

Hi @drwpcom,

Thanks for getting back to me, as far as I know the caching was removed from the site, the server uses LiteSpeed and I removed the wp plugin and deactivated the cache on the cpanel.

Yes i tested with a default theme when I was in conflict mode.

After further testing, for example setting the payment method to cash on delivery I found the issue still occurred, I also found that it wasn’t for every product that had stock control enabled.

The order notes for any of the orders that had the issue showed the correct reduction in stock, i.e 10 -> 9 but then when viewing the product the stock would be something like -61 and then marked as out of stock, when the stock is manually updated i.e. back to 10 and another order is made the stock would go to -62.

The only thing I can think of is that the database is somehow corrupt, I have run the standard repair and optimise of the tables, but this has not helped.

In the short term the clicent has decided to remove stock control for now with a view of adding it back in next year, the only solution I can think of is to rebuild the site with a fresh database and export content from the current site and import into the new version of the site and hope for the best..

Ant advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @glowmedialimited, it definitely sounds like there is an issue with the stock in the database.

You could try exporting the products and re-importing them with the correct stock values to see if that makes a difference.

Another test you could do is if you duplicate one of the affected products, can you replicate the issue there?

You can also try checking the database entries for the two products to explore how they are different, to see what might be going on.
