Stock emails received when manually changing stock, and duplicating product

Thank you for taking a look at this for me.

The email is received with the title: [Shop name] Product low in stock
And reads when duplicating a product: Product (Copy) (SKUNUMBER-1) is low in stock. There are 1 left.
Or when I manuaklly alter the stock level of an existing product: Product (SKUNUMBER) is low in stock. There are 1 left.

It’s the same email I receive when an order with a product that has a low stock amount is placed.
I’ve never had this email when altering or duplicating a product before.

Could you please confirm when this issue began? Have you recently made any changes to your site such as adding new plugins, updating the theme, or a plugin, changing any settings, etc?

Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

• System Status Report?which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
• Fatal error logs?(if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

I updated to 9.3.1, rolling back to 9.2.3 fixed it.

Do you know if the defer transactional emails snippet from here works with the latest Woocommerce update?

add_filter( 'woocommerce_defer_transactional_emails', '__return_true' );

I’m not sure what else might cause the emails to be sent.

having the exact same thing when our Epos system updates our stock we are getting bombed with out of stock emails over and over.

I’m guessing it’s something to do with this PR

We are getting the same error, we have quite a lot of stock changes, and getting a lot of duplicate emails too!

The woocommerce_defer_transactional_emails filter should work fine with the latest WooCommerce version.

if I alter a product’s stock level, either using quick edit or in the product page, I receive an email about the stock level.

I want to confirm something from your initial message.
Is the stock of the edited product level lower than the threshold?

When you duplicate a product, do you receive an email after you publish it or while the product is in draft status?

I tried to replicate the problem by following the same steps on my test site but received no emails.
Hopefully, answers to my questions will shed some light on the issue.

we have the same issue.

We use WP All Import Pro + Woocommerce Add-on, to import stock quantities to our webshop, and cron is scheduled to run twice in an hour. After we updated to Woo 9.3.1, we get a lot stock notification emails twice in every hour.

All other settings are perfect, we have been using the webshop with these settings for 4 years.

We’re also experiencing the same thing since upgrading to v9.3.1 too.

One of our clients’ sites is sending thousands of low stock notifications an hour. They are using WP All Import Pro to import/update products from a third-party EPOS system using crons running four times an hour.

As this never happened prior to this update, it would appear there is an issue with Woo v9.3.1

In the meantime, a rollback for WooCommerce 9.2.3 would be advised if you’re affected by this issue.

Could you please try updating and letting us know if this solves the problem for you? Please consider taking a full?backup?of your site before doing that, or try the updates on a?staging?site to make sure nothing breaks while doing so.

I’ve updated it this morning, and it seems to be working as before. I’ll keep monitoring, as we would have to take a lot of things out of stock to test it!
